Granville Island Brewing

1.PROBLEM

Granville Island Brewery required a packaging refresh for its small-batch lineup. Their existing labels struggled with two core issues: they lacked the distinctive personality necessary to honor the brewery’s heritage, and they suffered from an inconsistent visual language across twenty different rotating flavors. The primary challenge was to create a cohesive brand presence that could stand out on crowded retail shelves, where clarity and immediate visual impact are paramount.

2.Role

Leading the visual identity for the monthly limited releases, Bruno coordinated the design process alongside 9 Letters. He spearheaded the journey of each flavor, translating initial creative concepts into refined, market-ready artwork. His responsibilities encompassed the entire conceptual pipeline—refining the visual direction for new flavor launches and managing the final technical production to ensure a premium, unified finish across the portfolio.

3.Solution

The resulting ecosystem was a robust, flexible visual system driven by expressive illustration and intentional composition. This structure provided the optimal balance, allowing every rotating flavor to express its unique personality through bespoke art while remaining anchored within the master brand. By implementing a standardized, modular label architecture, the lineup achieved potent shelf impact, resulting in a premium seasonal experience and several best-selling releases for the brewery.
